Welcome to the website for Hillingdon Friends of the Earth.

We are located in West London and meet on the third Tuesday of each month from 7:45pm until 9:45pm in Christ Church, Redford Way, Uxbridge UB8 1SZ. Click here for map of venue. 

Please come and join us ! Our next meeting is on Tuesday 17th January 2012. We will be planning our activities for the year.

In March 2011 we visited Transition Heathrow and gave them a cheque to help with their gardening projects.  

On 19 March 2011 we joined other local groups in asking David Cameron to talk half as much rubbish.

 

 

On Saturday 17th July 2010 we were invited to the first Eastcote House Gardens open day and picnic.

On Saturday 10th July 2010 we had a very busy afternoon at Hayes Carnival on a very hot day!

 

 

On Saturday 19th June 2010 we participated in the Ickenham Festival by entering the carnival procession and holding a stall.

.

On Sunday 9th May 2010 we had a stall at the Ruislip Woods Festival with feely boxes and information leaflets.

 

 

On Saturday 5th 2009 December we joined 50,000 climate campaigners in The Wave March in support of action on climate change at Copenhagen.

 

 

On Saturday 4th 2009 July we had a stall at Yiewsley Community Fun Day, where they were celebrating the 50th Anniversary of St Matthew's Church along with the local community and school. Our climate change themed feely boxes attracted a lot of attention.

 

 

 

 

 

The following Saturday, 11th July 2009 we had a fund raising stall at Hayes Carnival.

 

 

Climate March Saturday 6th 2008 December

 On Saturday 6th December we joined NOTRAG and many thousands of others and marched from Grosvenor Square to Parliament Square in London. The themes were NO to new coal and airport expansion and YES to renewable energy. Click here for more details. The many inspiring speakers included Caroline Lucas, Nick Clegg and john McDonnell MP for Hayes and Harlington.

 

 

FOE Renewables Day Of Action

 On Saturday 25th 2008 October we set up a stall in Hayes Town Centre and asked people to sign postcards requesting the government keep to its target for renewable energy. We also had a petition opposing the proposed third runway at Heathrow and the threat to Cherry Lane cemetery.

We performed a short play with the message 'Renewables + Third Runway = Nonsense!

Ickenham Festival 7-15 June 2008

In June we participated in the Ickenham Festival. We entered the carnival procession,

and held an information and lucky dip stall at the Gala.Click here for the Festival website.

Our group organised the Festival Treasure Hunt with a green/natural history theme. Click here to download the answers as a pdf, or here to download as a word document. The winner of the short route was Lucy Roach of 6th Ickenham Brownies, and the winners of the longer route Max and Kirstie Fullerton.

 

 

 

 

FOE Big Ask Day of Action

On Saturday 5th April 2008 we set set up a stall in Hayes Town Centre. We invited our borough MPs (John Randall and John McDonnell) who support the Big Ask Campaign to visit us, but we also had a suprise visitor who bore a striking resemblance to our PM. What was he doing with that aeroplane ?

 

 

We asked people visiting our stall to sign postcards asking for the Climate Change Bill to include aviation and shipping emissions. We also had a petition opposing the Third Runway and 6th Terminal at Heathrow.
