On Thursday 21st February 2008 we set up an information stall at Brunel University as part of their Green Week. We handed out Big Ask postcards, Climate Change and Heathrow Expansion leaflets.

On Thursday 31st January 2008, we attended the public meeting against Heathrow expansion, at The Civic Centre, Uxbridge, and handed out FOE leaflets. More than 250 people heard presentations by Ray Puddifoot (leader of the Council), Geraldine Nicholson (Chair NOTRAG), John Stewart (Chair HACAN) and the three borough MPs John Randall, John McDonnell and Nick Hurd. The meeting agreed there was no justification for Heathrow expansion. The environmental and social costs of expansion were emphasised, and evidence presented that the economic case is not proven. Most worrying, there has been no risk assessment carried out to examine the dangers of flying an increasing number of aircraft over the built up areas around Heathrow.

On Saturday 3rd November 2007, a public meeting was held in Hayes to discuss Climate Change. Speakers were Howard Whitehead from FOE, John McDonnell MP for Hayes and Harlington and Graham Lee of the Green Party. The meeting agreed that the Climate Change Bill had to include emissions from aviation and shipping.

On Saturday 15th September 2007 we set up an information stall in Hayes Town Centre. We handed out FOE leaflets, big ASK postcards for people to sign and energy efficiency surveys to complete. We displayed our own Local Group leaflet for the second time - seen here in the leaflet dispensers, and invited visitors to post their postcards to MPs in our postbox.

John McDonnell, MP for Hayes and Harlington, visited our stall.

At Hayes Carnival on 8th July 2006, we displayed FOE information leaflets and sold planted containers which had been donated to us.

The feely boxes were a hit with the children. Some of the items they discovered were tree bark, pebbles, donkey hair and strawberries.

Our recycling bins strategically sited beside the large rubbish bins at the Ickenham Festival Gala on 17th June 2006, were a great success. We collected at least 600 bottles and cans.

On 10th June 2006, we joined the European Day of Action against airport expansion. First there was a photocall organised by West London FOE.

Then we marched along the route of the proposed Heathrow third runway to Harmondsworth Village and heard many stirring speeches from MEPs, MPs, local councillors and members of local action groups.
